About LOT 604

LOT 604 grew out of years of photographing Vancouver and a longstanding fascination with its architecture, history, and urban life. Architecture remains at the heart of the project, but my interest extends beyond individual buildings to the city around them: how streets and neighbourhoods evolve, how old and new coexist, and how the places we pass every day acquire their character.

Vancouver has a way of holding your attention without asking for it.

Surrounded by mountains and water, the city is constantly changing, yet much of its character is found in the details that are easy to overlook. An older building standing among new towers. An unusual façade. A familiar street seen from an unfamiliar angle. The contrast between a carefully designed landmark and the ordinary architecture surrounding it.

Some photographs document familiar landmarks, while others are taken from unusual viewpoints or focus on buildings and details that rarely receive much attention. Rooftops, streets, industrial sites, architectural fragments and everyday scenes all offer different perspectives on Vancouver. Sometimes the photograph itself tells the story; other times, the history behind a place makes it considerably more interesting.

People and street life are part of that picture. A city is more than its buildings, and the way people occupy its streets and public spaces is inseparable from the architecture around them. These moments are part of the archive, even if buildings remain its main subject.

LOT 604 is not a commercial photography portfolio or an attempt to produce a definitive history of Vancouver. It is a personal project, shaped by years of observation, a passion for architecture and an interest in the stories behind the places I photograph. It gives a home to photographs that might otherwise remain on hard drives, together with the knowledge and discoveries that make them worth sharing.

Vancouver never stands still. Buildings disappear, neighbourhoods change and familiar views gradually become records of something that no longer exists. Preserving those moments is part of what makes this collection meaningful to me.
